Quilt Songs: Women Weaving the Fabric of Life. A work in five moments inspired by the quilts of Kay McCarthy, composed by Carol Barnett (1949-), Ysaÿe Barnwell (1946-), Gabriela Lena Frank (1972-), Libby Larsen (1950-), and Alice Parker (1925-). Quilt Songs was commissioned in 2015 by Minnesota’s Vocal Essence chorus. They’ve published a booklet of Composer’s Notes accompanied by images of the quilts and poems that inspired each movement, view it here.

Tuition for the four August rehearsals is $30.

Quilt Songs is under copyright. You can elect to work from a PDF score for viewing on a screen or printing at home. The price for a PDF from the publisher is $7.50 We will make the purchase for you and email you the PDF file. If you prefer a paper score, we can obtain those from the publisher for $12.50 per copy and will make them available for pick-up at the home of a singer in Berkeley during the week before rehearsals begin. You must register by July 5 to order a Quilt Songs paper score for pick-up in Berkeley. If you live outside the Bay Area, please choose the PDF; we will not mail paper scores.
