Exploring Fauré's Requiem
His Music and Lyricism in the French Romantic Era
Mondays 7pm, Sept 14 - Dec 21
BCCO Music Director Ming Luke has assembled a program around the Fauré Requiem, a well-loved work that we expect is already familiar to many of you. In addition to spending a few weeks learning and singing each movement, Ming will lead us on short excursions into other works that illuminate choral writing in the french romantic era - a brief visit with a movement from Poulenc's Gloria, Duruflé's Requiem, a song by Saint-Saens, etc. The evenings will be focused on singing - an evolution of BCCO's summer sessions - and will include sectionals, notable guest clinicians, and led by Ming with accompanist Paul Caccamo and assistant conductor Julia Morris.
We anticipate that many singers already own a score for this work. If not, you can dowload a pdf score for viewing on screen or to print at home via the link above. This score is in the public domain and was sourced from IMSLP. If you would like to purchase a bound score, consider ordering here or here (or from your favorite provider).
