Carrie Hennessey, soprano
Known for her ability to bring great musical and theatrical depth to her performances, Carrie Hennessey is a powerful and talented artist. She has performed in opera, in theater, and with symphonies around the world, and was thrilled to perform Benjamin Britten’s epic War Requiem with BCCO this spring. Of her much-awaited debut as Blanche DuBois in Previn’s Streetcar Named Desire, local critic Donald Munro reported that “Hennessey, using a one-two punch of music and drama, made [the role] resonate in a way that equaled the best stage performances of the part I’ve seen.”
Recent engagements include appearances at Dvořák Hall in Prague; the International Mahler Festival in Jihlava, Czech Republic; Austria; and her New York City debut in Poulenc’s French melodrama La voix humaine. Carrie has also performed with Fresno Grand Opera, Grammy- nominated Grand Rapids Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Paci c Symphony, Oakland East Bay Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, Berkeley Symphony, West Edge Opera, and Sacramento Opera.
