Singers from BCCO, the Berkeley Women's Community Chorus and First Church Berkeley Choir, under the direction of Derek Tam, will join together with a chamber orchestra to perform the Street Requiem.

Composed in 2014 by Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch, the 50-minute cantata employs Gospel, Celtic, neo-Romantic, neo-Baroque, and contemporary compositional styles reflecting multicultural and multi-faith traditions of modern urban life. It was written to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to communities struggling with homelessness and all proceeds will benefit the Women's Daytime Drop-in Center in Berkeley.

Soloists will be tenor Brian Thorsett and Bay Area mezzo-soprano Molly Mahoney, joined by a chamber orchestra and pianist Jason Sherbundy.
