Matthew DePasquale, BCCO Conducting Apprentice

Matthew DePasquale has been an active member of the Bay Area music scene since 2008. Originally from New Jersey, he studied under the tutelage of Donald Batchelder, obtaining his bachelor of music degree in trumpet performance from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University in 2007. In 2008, he moved across the country to study with David Burkhart and Mario Guarneri, earning his master's degree in trumpet performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2010. As a trumpet player, he has had the opportunity to perform with numerous Bay Area ensembles, including Santa Cruz Symphony, Oakland Ballet, BCCO, Merced Symphony, Symphony Napa Valley, Magik*Magik Orchestra, San Francisco Choral Society, and Silicon Valley Philharmonic, performing Haydn's Trumpet Concerto in E flat major.

He has also performed with several rock and indie artists, including Sting, Chicago, Third Eye Blind, Chris Botti, Evanescence, and the Mason Bates EDM/Classical ensemble Mercury Soul.

In addition to his freelance trumpet career, Matt serves as BCCO's conducting apprentice, assistant conductor of the Merced Symphony, and principal conductor of both Sven and the Masterful Majestic Orchestra and Joy Luck Music Chamber Orchestra.

As an educator, he maintains a private studio of trumpet and piano students, and he coaches trumpet sectionals for several ensembles throughout the Bay Area.
