Conducting Apprentice Mia Tsui

Mia Tsui is a recent graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in Music focusing on Conducting and Composition. Mia's first introduction to conducting was as the Student Conductor of the Princeton University Band, where she learned to balance intent musical work with a positive and enjoyable community dynamic.
Mia went on to serve as Conductor of the Princeton Triangle Show (musical comedy), as well as Conductor's Apprentice at the Orquestra Sinfónica de Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Mia's compositions range from popular to classical to jazz and back, and for her senior thesis she arranged a Jazz Suite from Carmen for 17-piece big band, based on Bizet's classic opera. She is also interested in criticism and youth education, and is pursuing a career in the world of music outreach and education. A former trombonist, Mia now plays piano and bass guitar; in addition to music, her interests include Portuguese language and Brazilian cultural studies, Constitutional Interpretation, gymnastics and capoeira.
