BCCO Officers and Board of Directors
Board of Directors - BCCO is governed by a twenty-member volunteer working Board of Directors that meets monthly to set goals, develop policy, determine fundraising priorities and organize outreach programs. The Board monitors all aspects of the organization and provides fiscal oversight. Board members handle virtually all the tasks for rehearsals, concerts and fundraising, and in the course of this, undertake many administrative tasks. The Board is assisted by a part time Chorus Manager as well as by a large and effective contingent of volunteers from the chorus itself. The Board meets the fourth Thursday of every month, taking a one-to-two month break during the summer. The work of the Board as a whole is facilitated by a number of committees, as indicated in the roster below.
In addition, the Board has a day-long retreat each year to review the past year and to discuss and decide on new directions. Feedback received during rehearsals and from public on-line evaluation forms, plus evaluation forms submitted by all chorus members, are summarized before the retreat and then used as a basis for retreat discussions. Because of the imminent retirement of our Music Director, Arlene Sagan, after the 2011 Spring concerts, the Board’s retreat this year will focus on the transition and search for her replacement. A Transition Team and Search Committee, composed largely but not exclusively of Board members, are already hard at work in addressing this major challenge and opportunity for BCCO.
